I did show this Japanese quilt in June before i had quilted, it is now quilted and on my wall next to another small wall hanging.
I am very pleased with it as this is the first time I have sewn large stitches in the quilting I think it looks very effective.
The picture does not do the quilt justice as it is difficult to see the stitching, I will try to do a close up.
How do you like the cherry blossom appliqué it was taken from a patchwork and quilting magazine and designed by Susan Briscoe.
The coloured squares in the centre are re-cycled kimono fabric they are silky I had to back them with vilene to make them stable thIs make the quilt more fun as I bought this fabric in Tokyo a great reminder of a fabulous holiday.
I have been asked to show and talk about it at one of my quilting groups that will not be till June of next year.
This picture is a pencil case it is with hexagons I posted it earlier before I had put it together, I find it a good size it hold lots of pens and pencil.

Congratulations on finishing your quilt! I think the sashiko quilting is perfect for a Japanese quilt, and the appliquéd cherry blossoms add a nice touch. You have indeed a lot of memories built into this quilt.
